Type of Project
Extension, Renovation, Basement
A comprehensive loft conversion, extension and full renovation of a four-storey townhouse in the Belsize Park Conservation Area, this project carefully balances contemporary intervention with the sensitivities of a historic setting. The design introduces generous, light-filled living spaces and finely detailed interiors while retaining the scale, proportions and character of the original fabric. Classic materials are reinterpreted through a crisp, modern lens, creating a home that feels both rooted and quietly progressive.
Kitchen & Dining
The kitchen and dining area is organised as a bright, linear space that draws the eye directly towards the garden beyond. A large rooflight runs overhead, washing the room in natural light and animating the pale oak floor throughout the day. The bespoke kitchen combines painted cabinetry with a marble-topped island, which anchors the space and provides a focal point for informal dining. Full-height sliding glazed doors open onto the garden, creating a seamless visual connection between inside and out, while planting and timber furniture soften the transition and lend the room a relaxed, lived-in character.
“Dani from my architect was very helpful to draw our dream house extension. We got the planning permission very quickly. She recommended builders who completed the job within budget and time.”
Philippe – Homeowner
Kitchen
The kitchen is detailed with painted shaker cabinetry, marble-effect worktops and a deep ceramic sink set into the main run. A blue-panelled island introduces colour and texture, paired with timber bar stools and statement pendants above. Integrated appliances and slimline hardware keep the composition clean and precise.
Stairwell
The stairwell is treated as a vertical feature, with crisp white balustrading, timber treads and a rooflight above that draws daylight down through the house, giving the circulation spaces a quiet architectural presence.
The lounge is a calm, composed room defined by generous proportions, soft neutral tones and layered textures, with bespoke joinery and carefully positioned lighting creating a comfortable setting for both everyday living and evening use.
