Type of Project

Rear extension and full renovation

A vibrant kitchen extension and renovation to a Clapham terrace, this project reworks the ground floor into a sociable, design-led living space for a young couple. The intervention combines generous daylight with a confident palette of colour, texture and bespoke joinery, setting a clear architectural framework for expressive furniture, artwork and lighting. The result is a refined yet characterful interior that balances everyday functionality with a distinctly contemporary, urban sensibility.

Kitchen & Dining

The kitchen and dining area is defined by bold colour, sculptural lighting and carefully layered materials. Deep-toned joinery is paired with warm timber flooring and stone surfaces, while statement pendant lights and curated artwork introduce character. Generous glazing and rooflights flood the space with daylight, creating a lively yet refined setting for cooking, dining and entertaining.

“We would highly recommend Dani and Harry and the My Architect team to anyone considering undertaking a home re-design. They are a joy to work with.”

Joinery

The joinery is bespoke and confident, defined by richly coloured cabinetry with clean, minimal profiles. Full-height units provide generous storage while grounding the space, balanced by open elements that allow artwork and objects to be displayed. The detailing is precise and restrained, letting colour and proportion take centre stage.

Lounge

The lounge is a more intimate counterpart to the kitchen, layered with texture, colour and carefully chosen furniture. Rich textiles, artwork and soft lighting create a relaxed yet characterful atmosphere, offering a comfortable retreat that balances the openness and energy of the adjoining living spaces.

The Garden

The garden is conceived as a simple, urban retreat that extends the living space beyond the kitchen. Hard landscaping and defined planting create a clear, usable backdrop, allowing the architecture and interior views to take precedence. It provides a relaxed setting for outdoor dining and entertaining, visually connected to the house through large glazed openings.

“My-architect managed the whole process through getting planning permission which we received on the first application. One of the best things about working with them was the matchmaking process when it came to finding a builder.”
