This warm, light-filled kitchen extension in Hackney combines natural clay-plastered walls, bold blue cabinetry and a skylit dining space anchored by a bespoke timber bench. The Kitchen

Warm natural light washes across clay-plastered walls, a bespoke oak bench and soft geometric textiles, creating a calm, crafted dining space that connects directly to the garden. Generous rooflights frame the sky, while muted tones and tactile materials bring a gentle, contemporary character to this space

“My/Architect understood exactly what we wanted. They managed every detail, from planning permission through to the final finish. We couldn’t be happier with our new home.”

Miles D — Homeowner

Window Seat

The window seat is crafted in warm oak, running the full length of the glazing to create a generous, built-in nook that anchors the dining space. Its geometric, handwoven backrest adds colour and softness, while the low sill height and garden views make it a calm, inviting spot for solitude.

Colourful Cabinetry

The kitchen’s colourful cabinetry forms a playful yet refined backdrop, with matte blue fronts framed in pale timber and accented by warm brass pulls. Integrated storage is thoughtfully arranged around the dining area, keeping clutter hidden while displaying personal touches. Soft clay-plastered walls and terrazzo surfaces balance the vibrant palette with a calm, crafted warmth.

Kitchen Details

The kitchen pairs soft timber wall units with playful blue lower cabinetry, unified by terrazzo worktops and a subtle speckled splashback. Brass pulls add warmth and tactility. Above, the exposed red steel beam becomes a sculptural feature, its bold colour cutting through the calm, plastered interior to give the space character and rhythm.
