Type of Project

Rear extension and full renovation

A sensitive reworking of a Victorian terrace, this project introduces a calm, contemporary extension while retaining the character of the original house. A light-filled kitchen and dining space opens directly onto the garden, balanced by restrained material choices, crafted joinery, and carefully restored period details throughout.

Kitchen extension with marble island, skylight, pendant lighting, and steel-framed garden doors.

The Kitchen

The kitchen is conceived as a calm, functional centrepiece, defined by dark-stained timber cabinetry, honed marble surfaces, and refined brass detailing. A generous island anchors the space, providing both workspace and informal seating, while black-framed glazing and rooflights draw daylight deep into the plan, creating a seamless connection to the garden beyond.

“My Architects tender service is fantastic, it allowed us to go through all the details of the build so that we had a comprehensive quote with no nasty suprises.”

The Bathroom

The bathroom is composed as a restrained, spa-like space, combining soft neutral tiles with crisp white sanitaryware. Subtle brass fixtures introduce warmth against the muted palette, while vertical tiling and generous glazing enhance the sense of height and light, resulting in a calm and finely balanced interior.

Bedroom

The bedroom is treated as a quiet retreat, with a soft, neutral palette that amplifies natural light and complements the original proportions of the house. Retained period details sit comfortably alongside contemporary furniture, while simple finishes and warm timber flooring create a calm, uncluttered atmosphere suited to rest and everyday living.

Kitchen Details

The kitchen is anchored by a generous island with integrated timber barstools, introducing a softer, tactile counterpoint to the dark joinery. Above, sculptural pendant lights are suspended on fine black cables, creating a graphic focal point while providing warm, focused illumination. Brushed brass hardware and veined marble surfaces complete the composition, balancing richness with restraint and reinforcing the kitchen’s role as both a working space and social hub.
